Alvin & Daisy Tan
Missions Personnel Code: "ADT"

Involvement: Education and Discipleship

Organization: Discipleship Training Centre (DTC)

Serving in: Singapore and Cambodia

Alvin and Daisy came to know the Lord through the outreach ministry of Bartley Christian Church in the early 70s. They were then discipled and involved in leadership roles in the church’s youth and cell-group ministries. As an overseas undergrad, Alvin engaged in a campus ministry of Asian students and from there received a call to cross-cultural ministry in Asia. Daisy also felt the Lord’s calling to cross-cultural ministry through the church’s missional teaching and engagements in missions.

After working in the marketplace for a few years, both Alvin & Daisy went for their theological training at DTC (1991-1993) in preparations for cross-cultural ministry. They served in Cambodia (1995-2006), initially direct-sent by Bartley and then with OMF, reaching out to university students and helping in church planting, discipleship and theological training. Alvin taught at the Phnom Penh Bible School (PPBS) to train and raise up local pastors and ministry leaders. He continues as a visiting lecturer and returns to teach at PPBS yearly.

In 2006, the family returned to Singapore in view of caring for aging parents and for the children to reintegrate into Singapore school. While serving at Bartley Christian Church as a Missions Pastor and subsequently as Senior Pastor, Alvin was an adjunct faculty at DTC teaching Missions courses.

Currently, Alvin serves as the Dean of DTC and will continue to teach missions courses, among other responsibilities. Alvin and Daisy live on campus in a cross-cultural community of students and faculty, where they also mentor students who are preparing to go to the mission field.
